All of these Minesweepers operated in Vietnamese waters during Market Time Operations & numerous other operations (some secret, some not so secret) during this war.
Sailors on these (Wooden) ships endured long periods at sea.
It took an average of 10-12 Days to get to Hawaii from Long Beach Calif.
While serving in the USS Acme (MSO-508) during "Market Time Operations" we were on the line for 89 days searching/checking the Vietnamese boats/ships for contraband & Viet Cong troops.
Minesweepers had a very limited space for the crew.
The berthing space was like a sardine can.
Fresh water was a thing we dreamed about. And we occasionally chased rain squalls to get showers (on deck).
